We are one of the country’s top performing NHS Foundation Trusts, looking after the wellbeing of around half a million people across Northumberland and North Tyneside – one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS Trust in England.

We deliver care from 11 acute sites including an emergency care hospital, general and community hospitals, an outpatient and diagnostic centre, an elderly care unit and an integrated health and social care facility.

We are rated ‘outstanding’ overall by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). We are one of the North East’s largest employers with 9,500 dedicated members of staff. We have a Council of Governors with 70 members, representing the public, staff and some of our external partners.

We invest heavily in staff to ensure that the best talent is attracted, developed, looked after, and retained in every area of the organisation. Staff satisfaction is high and our staff consistently rate us as one of the best places to work in the NHS.

We were one of the first NHS Trusts to receive foundation status, and have been a foundation trust for over a decade.

Candidates must read the entire ‘Applicants Guidance Notes’ before submitting any applications.

Please note that it is a requirement of this Trust that all successful applicants pay for their own DBS certification if a DBS check is required for the post.  The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first monthly pay.

This role is an exciting opportunity for a suitable candidate to work in the central DAFNE team at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

DAFNE (Dose Adjustment for Normal Eating) is an international education programme for patients with Type 1 diabetes.

The post holder will be required to provide day to day budgetary management for the programme and high quality administrative/secretarial services to the Chair of the DAFNE Executive Board, National DAFNE Director and National DAFNE manager to enable continued roll-out and development of DAFNE as a national and international programme.

The successful candidate will be required to take and transcribe minutes for the DAFNE Executive Board and sub group meetings, there will be occasions where meetings are 1 or 2 days in duration with sufficient breaks, therefore the ability to concentrate for prolonged periods of time is important.

The ability to maintain financial records and produce accurate budget reports are other requirements to the role, therefore proven experience of databases and spreadsheets is essential.

The post holder will also be responsible for arranging formal meetings throughout the year and organising the annual Collaborative event.

The role will occasionally involve supervision of the DAFNE administration team (band 3/2), delegating duties, monitoring workload/capacity and providing line management function in the absence of the National DAFNE Manager.

Closing date: 20th February 2019
